Erykah Badu, born Erica Wright in Dallas, is renowned for her soulful neo-soul style and unique vocals reminiscent of Billie Holiday. Born in Philadelphia, R&B legend Patti LaBelle is renowned for versatile vocals and hits like "If Only You Knew" and "On My Own." Starting with the group LaBelle, she soared solo, winning Grammy Awards for albums like "Burnin'" and "Live! One Night Only." Known for genres from soul to jazz, she collaborated with artists like Michael McDonald and David Rubinson. Also an actor, LaBelle has appeared on "American Horror Story" and has a popular baked goods line.
Donell Jones, from Chicago's South Side, is known for his jazzy, soulful urban pop style. Notable hits include "Knocks Me Off My Feet" and "U Know What's Up." Philadelphia-born Jazmine Sullivan is known for her soulful R&B style. Her debut album "Fearless" topped charts, earning seven Grammy nominations. In 2022, her project "Heaux Tales" won her two Grammys and three NAACP Image Awards. Her single “Pick Up Your Feelings” was a standout hit. She also claimed several BET and Soul Train Music Awards, and was listed on the 2022 TIME100 list for her influence.
Nigerian artist Davido fuses Afro-pop with global pop. Known for hits like "Aye" and "Dami Duro," he has collaborated with Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown. His albums "A Better Time" and "Timeless" topped charts, showcasing his infectious style.
