Nina Simone, born Eunice Kathleen Waymon in Tryon, NC, was a legendary pianist, singer, songwriter, and civil rights activist. The "High Priestess of Soul" fused classical, jazz, blues, gospel, and folk. Her iconic songs include "I Loves You, Porgy," "Feeling Good," and "Mississippi Goddam." She earned a Grammy Hall of Fame Award and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
