Jazz pianist Fred Hersch, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, is renowned for his nuanced style and acclaimed compositions, influenced by jazz legends like Ahmad Jamal. A multiple Grammy nominee, his works like "Dancing in the Dark" and "Floating" are staples of modern jazz. An educator at heart, former students include Brad Mehldau. Openly gay and living with HIV, Hersch vigorously supports gay rights and AIDS research. He has collaborated with Esperanza Spalding, Enrico Rava, and released numerous memorable albums including "Alive at the Village Vanguard" and "Breath by Breath."
Jazz bassist Thomas Morgan, born in Haymarket, CA, is known for his collaborations with Bill Frisell, John Abercrombie, Tomasz Stanko, and Paul Motian. Educated at Manhattan School of Music, Morgan has a fluid style and rich tone. Credits include Binney’s Cities and Desire, Motian's The Windmills of Your Mind, and Frisell's Small Town.
