The Ruts emerged from late-'70s Britain, blending punk rock with reggae and dub. Known for "Babylon's Burning," they fought racism alongside Misty in Roots and supported Rock Against Racism. Singer Malcolm Owen's death in 1980 ended their initial run, but their legacy continued through Ruts D.C. and reunions, including a 2007 benefit with Henry Rollins.
