Baltimore-born Gary Bartz is an acclaimed alto saxophonist known for his fusion of soul, funk, and jazz. He has collaborated with greats like Miles Davis, Norman Connors, and the Mizell Brothers. Bartz founded the innovative NTU Troop in the '70s and won a Grammy for his work on McCoy Tyner's Illuminations. He also taught at Oberlin Conservatory and released the noteworthy Coltrane Rules.
