The Dream Syndicate, a key band from L.A.'s Paisley Underground scene, fused Bob Dylan's wordplay and Velvet Underground's dark guitar sound. Formed by Steve Wynn, they became known for albums like "The Days of Wine and Roses" and "Medicine Show." Collaborating with artists like Kendra Smith and Chris Cacavas, they explored rock, psychedelia, and ambient styles. Known for hits like "That's What You Always Say," they toured worldwide and influenced the indie music scene. They reunited in 2012 and released critically acclaimed projects such as "How Did I Find Myself Here?" and "Ultraviolet Battle Hymns and True Confessions."
Steve Wynn, born in the US, led the neo-psych band the Dream Syndicate, renowned in the '80s Paisley Underground scene. He gained fame for his sharp songwriting and collaborations with artists like R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, releasing acclaimed solo albums like "Kerosene Man." Wynn's musical journey spans solo work, the Baseball Project, and Dream Syndicate's revival, earning praise for blending rock, psych, and jazz. Celebrated albums include "Here Come the Miracles" and "Make It Right," and he remains influential in the alternative rock landscape.
Pennsylvania-born Howe Gelb, known for his eclectic desert rock with Giant Sand, found influence in Tucson, Arizona. Classic albums include "The Love Songs" and "Chore of Enchantment." His collaborations feature Rainer Ptacek, Juliana Hatfield, and John Convertino. Gelb explored solo work and spun off projects like Band of Blacky Ranchette, before reviving Giant Sand in 2018 with "Returns to Valley of Rain."
Colorado-born Josephine Foster melds American folk with experimental sounds, known for her haunting vocals & collaborations with Victor Herrera. Notable works include "I'm a Dreamer" & "Godmother."
