LineUp

Sugarhill Gang, pioneers from New York, launched hip-hop with "Rapper's Delight" in 1979, selling over 8 million copies. Known for hits like "8th Wonder" and "Apache," they faded by mid-80s but returned in 1999.
Miami-born Vanilla Ice topped charts with "Ice Ice Baby," a hit sampling Bowie/Queen. His album "To the Extreme" dominated for 16 weeks, selling over 7 million. Despite attempts to reinvent his style, subsequent albums saw limited success.
Rob Base, born Robert Ginyard in Harlem, hit big with “It Takes Two” alongside DJ E-Z Rock. Known for pioneering hip-house, their track ruled dance floors and climbed Billboard's Top 40. Despite personal and legal challenges, Base released solo work, though none matched their initial success. The duo briefly reunited before E-Z Rock's death in 2014.
Rapper Young MC (Marvin Young), born middle-class, excelled with hits like "Bust a Move" (Grammy winner) & collabs with Tone-Loc. Studied economics at USC & co-founded Delicious Vinyl. Known for humorous, accessible rap.
American R&B group Color Me Badd, formed in Oklahoma City in 1985, known for hits like "I Wanna Sex You Up". Sold over 12M records, won numerous awards, and appeared in films and TV. Only Mark Calderon remains from the original lineup.
