IC1s broke onto the scene in 2011 with the release of their debut single 'Levitate', recorded in a basement for £50 - but landing in the UK Top 200. Touted by Creation Records legend Alan McGee, championed by BBC 6's Steve Lamacq and signed by a Libertine - the band went on to share stages with DMAs, Carl Barat, The View, The Rifles, Reverend & The Makers and many more. By 2014, the band were recording their debut album with Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys/Kasabian), headlining London's Scala and touring up and down the country. However, owing to the longstanding tradition of bands destroying themselves in a maelstrom of ego, arguments and bad management - the band fell apart in late 2014 before the album's release.
To mark 10 years since the band's dissolution, IC1s returned in October 2024 for a sold-out performance at The Camden Assembly alongside the release of new singles 'Don't Change' & 'Talking in Silence' - their first recordings in a decade.
2025 saw the band record and release their debut album - the aptly named 'What Took You So Long?'. To mark the occasion, the band played their largest headline show at Camden's prestigious Dingwalls on Saturday 8th November 2025 to a sell out crowd. To close the year, the band supported The Rifles and Inspiral Carpets on several of their winter tour dates.
Spring 2026 saw the release of two new singles - 'Outta Reach' and 'That Was Then' - while the band continue to work on the follow up to 2025's 'What Took You So Long?'.
