Tomeka Reid, a celebrated cellist and composer from Washington, D.C., is known for her rich tone and inventive style. She collaborates with avant-garde figures like Anthony Braxton and Roscoe Mitchell and leads ensembles including Hear in Now and her own quartet. Reid won a 3Arts Award in 2016, directed the Chicago Jazz String Summit, and moved to NYC in 2016. Her acclaimed works include albums with Nicole Mitchell, Jaimie Branch, and Makaya McCraven.
