Jan Garbarek and Trilok Gurtu

Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek, born in Mysen, Norway, is renowned for his sharp-edged tone and long, sustained notes. Associated with ECM Records since 1970's "Afric Pepperbird," he blends jazz with folk, Indian, and Middle Eastern influences. Key works include "Witchi-Tai-To" and collaborations like "Officium" with the Hilliard Ensemble. His partnerships span artists like Keith Jarrett, Bill Frisell, and Ustad Fateh Ali Khan.
