The Hickey-Shanafelt Collective

The Hickey-Shanafelt Collective, led by long-time friends Kent Hickey and Alex Shanafelt, is a modern jazz nonet dedicated to writing, commissioning, and performing original music, written by local artists for the Indianapolis community. Founded in 2019, the group is composed of established and up-and-coming professionals who share a passion for connecting with people through new music. The band’s versatile sound and broad stylistic range keeps every show fresh and engaging for every listener.

Albums and Performance

The group has released two studio albums: Illuminate in 2022 and most recently The Kaleidoscope Suite in May of 2025. This performance will feature music from the new record as well as works commissioned for the group by friends of the band. Join us for an evening of intimate modern jazz!

Admission Information

Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket for admission. No cameras, audio, video, refunds, or exchanges. The ticket holder grants permission to Butler University and affiliates to utilize holders' images or likeness incidental to any live or recorded video display, photograph, or other transmission or reproduction in whole or in part of the event in which this ticket admits the ticket holder.
