Manchester-born punk poet John Cooper Clarke gained fame for rapid-fire social commentary, releasing "Psycle Sluts" (1977) and Disguise in Love (1978). He opened for the Sex Pistols and Buzzcocks, hit Top 40 with "Gimmix," and later collaborated with Hugh Cornwell on This Time It's Personal (2016).
