Johnny Mullenax is a Tulsa native who grew up in a musical family and began playing guitar at age 5. As a teen he attended the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas, and at 18 played in a live hip hop band backing rappers. He describes his genre-bending sound as “funky country bluegrass.”
