Born in Massachusetts, Jonathan Richman founded the proto-punk band the Modern Lovers before embarking on a diverse, decades-long solo career. He gained wider fame appearing in the film There's Something About Mary, crafting a naive, acoustic-leaning sound that frequently explores Spanish-language songs.
