Melissa Aldana, born in Santiago, Chile, is a tenor saxophonist influenced by Sonny Rollins. She won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, becoming the first female and South American to do so, and studied at Berklee. Her style blends classic jazz influences and modern expressions.
