Born in Ichinomiya, Aichi, in 1944. Debuted with "High School Third Year" in 1963 and won the Japan Record Award's New Artist Prize. Appeared 10 times on NHK's Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Known for his versatile career including film and theater. Honored with the Japan Record Awards' Meritorious Service Award in 2002, celebrating 60 years in entertainment in 2022.
