Kindred The Family Soul, simply known as Kindred, is one such duo that epitomizes longevity, evolution, and consistency. This multi-talented duo comprises married couple Fatin Dantzler and Aja Graydon.

Musical Journey and Influence

Kindred the Family Soul has released seven albums to date, creating music that is thoughtful, conscious, and motivated by a desire to inspire, comfort, and spread love and joy to all who hear it. For two decades, their musical movement has expanded and grown.

The Beginning Years

The duo met in 1997, married in 1998, started a family, and formed their group almost simultaneously. They began performing in Philadelphia at a small club called the Five Spot, with an event known as the Black Lily. Their pivotal moment came when they met Steve McKeever, the president of Hidden Beach Recordings, who signed them during the era of the Neo-soul movement. This era also spotlighted artists like Bilal, Jill Scott, Floetry, Musiq SoulChild, Ledisi, and others.

Accomplishments and Recognition

The duo has been nominated for awards such as BET and Soul Train. They consider their biggest accomplishment to be the sustainability of their art as a unit and their independent operation for more than ten years in the challenging music industry. In 2015, Kindred was featured in a Walmart commercial with their entire family, part of a very successful summer campaign.
