Toots & the Maytals, led by Toots Hibbert from May Pen, Jamaica, were pioneers in ska, rocksteady, and reggae genres. Known for hits like "Pressure Drop," Toots' soulful style was influenced by R&B icons. Collaborated with Leslie Kong and Chris Blackwell, they gained fame with albums like "Funky Kingston" and "Reggae Got Soul." The 2004 Grammy-winning "True Love" featured guests like Eric Clapton and Willie Nelson. Despite setbacks, including Hibbert's 2013 injury, they continued to perform and record, with "Got to Be Tough" in 2020 marking their last release before Hibbert's death.

Leba Hibbert, from Kingston, Jamaica, is a reggae and soul artist known for her soulful voice and for carrying on the musical legacy of her father, Toots Hibbert. She gained recognition as part of the duo 5446 with hits like "Ooh La La". Her solo work includes "Natty Dread" and "Jamaica". She has collaborated with artists such as Sly and Robbie and Jimmy Cliff, and performs as the lead singer for the new Toots and the Maytals band.

The Maytals formed in the 1960s and updated their name to Toots and the Maytals for their debut album 'Sweet And Dandy' in 1969. One of the best known ska and rocksteady groups, they also are known for the first use of the word 'reggae' in a song on their 1968 single 'Do The Reggay'.

Frederick 'Toots' Hibbert was considered a reggae pioneer who was named by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 100 greatest singers of all time. Known for classic reggae songs such as '54-46 Was My Number', 'Monkey Man', 'Pressure Drop', 'Funky Kingston', 'Broadway Jungle', 'Bam Bam', 'Time Tough' and 'Reggae Got Soul', Toots and the Maytals are now fronted by Toots' daughter Leba, who has released her own recordings and worked with Sly & Robbie, Jimmy Cliff and more.
