Born near Liverpool, China Crisis, led by Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon, mixed pop with political themes and reggae. Known for hits like "Wishful Thinking" and collaborations with Steely Dan's Walter Becker, they achieved U.K. chart success and a U.S. Billboard entry.
EXTC, originating from Swindon, UK, formed in 2019 around XTC's legendary drummer Terry Chambers. This post-punk and new-wave power-pop act, approved by XTC frontman Andy Partridge, revitalizes classic XTC songs like "Senses Working Overtime" and "Making Plans For Nigel" for live audiences. The band, featuring Chambers, Steve Hampton, and Terry Lines, is known for being the only touring group with original XTC members performing their music in decades. They have released a live album, "Live USA Vol. 1," and craft new material.
Peter Hook and The Light, formed in 2010, is an English post-punk and new wave band led by Joy Division and New Order co-founder Peter Hook. From The Jam, an English band formed in 2006, emerged from former The Jam members Rick Buckler and Bruce Foxton, joined by Russell Hastings. Known for their energetic live performances, they honor The Jam's legacy, blending punk attitude with mod style, and performing hits like "Going Underground" and "Town Called Malice". They have released original material, including albums like "Back in the Room," "Smash the Clock," and "The Butterfly Effect," featuring collaborations with artists such as Paul Weller.
Altered Images, led by Clare Grogan, gained fame in the 1980s new wave scene with hits like "Happy Birthday" and won Best New Act at the NME Awards. They've continued touring, collaborating with artists like Bernard Butler and Robert Hodgens.
Level 42, a British band formed in 1979, is known for jazz-funk fusion and later sophisti-pop and dance-rock. Key hits include "Something About You" and "Lessons in Love." Mark King’s bass technique and Wally Badarou's synth defined their style. Their peak album, World Machine, led them to international success. The band has had lineup changes, with King as the constant, and collaborated with guitarist Alan Holdsworth. They’re celebrated for dynamic live tours and a 30th-anniversary box set, Living It Up.
