Shannon Funchess, founder of LIGHT ASYLUM, hails from South Carolina and is famous for her dark electronic sound. Starting in churches, she drew from post-punk, indie, and icons like Grace Jones. Formed in Brooklyn in 2007, she released hits "Dark Allies" and "A Certain Person." Known for her powerful contralto, she's collaborated with acts like TV On The Radio, LCD Sound System, and The Knife.
