Lindisfarne

Lindisfarne, a folk-rock band from Newcastle, England, gained fame in the early '70s with hits like "Lady Eleanor" and "Meet Me on the Corner." Known for mixing folk melodies with electric textures, they rivaled Jethro Tull in popularity. Despite media hype and comparisons to Bob Dylan and The Beatles, artistic choices and lineup changes hindered lasting success. Members included Alan Hull, Ray Jackson, and Simon Cowe. Their chart-topping album "Fog on the Tyne" and live performances left a cult legacy, remaining popular concert attractions with periodic reunions until the '80s.
