Rob Base, born Robert Ginyard in Harlem, is best known for the hip-hop classic "It Takes Two" with DJ E-Z Rock. The duo's album went platinum and Spin named it Single of the Year. After releasing a solo album, Base reunited with E-Z Rock for Break of Dawn in 1994. E-Z Rock passed away in 2014 and was honored at the Hip Hop Hall of Fame.
The Jets, a band of 8 siblings from a Tongan family in Minneapolis, hit fame in 1986-89 with songs like "Crush on You." Known for dance-pop, they achieved gold albums before shifting to gospel in the '90s.
