He currently serves as the music director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, principal conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and chief conductor of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. A Grammy Award winner, he is widely recognized for his leading interpretations of Italian opera and late Romantic repertoire, as well as his work as a passionate perfume maker.
