Missing Persons, born in 1980s L.A., is a new wave band known for hits like "Walking in L.A." and "Words." Fronted by Dale Bozzio, they mixed pop with synth innovation.
The Untouchables, a pioneering West Coast ska band, debuted in 1984 with "Live & Let Dance." Known for blending R&B covers with reggae rhythms, they recorded "Wild Child" in 1985 and "Agent Double O Soul" in 1989. The group featured Chuck Askerneese and Clyde Grimes among others and released their final live album, "Decade of Dance," in 1990.
Lost 80's Live is a long-running concert tour, founded in 2002, known for bringing together iconic 1980s new wave, synth-pop, rock, and electronic music artists. It offers a nostalgic "greatest hits" experience, featuring original members performing their popular radio hits. Rolling Stone calls it "one mega-show."
Belinda Carlisle, born in Hollywood, was the lead singer of the Go-Go's, a popular new wave band known for hits like "Our Lips Are Sealed." Going solo, she released top-charting albums featuring hits like "Mad About You" and "Heaven Is a Place on Earth," transitioning to mainstream success. She explored various musical styles, including French chanson and Buddhist chants. Carlisle collaborated with Diane Warren and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the Go-Go's in 2021.
London's Wang Chung, originally Huang Chung, soared in the '80s US music scene with hits like "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" & "Dance Hall Days." Known for new wave style, they focused on the US market, collaborating with major labels like Arista & Geffen.
Detroit’s power pop band the Romantics rose in the late ’70s with hits like “Talking in Your Sleep.” Known for high-energy sound, retro style, and MTV favorites like “What I Like About You.”
Animotion, a synth-pop band from Los Angeles, is best known for hits like "Obsession" and "Let Him Go." Formed in 1983, they blended electronic and rock sounds, hitting Billboard top 10 with their debut.
Shannon (Brenda Shannon Greene) is an American singer from Washington, D.C., renowned as the "Queen of Freestyle" and a pioneer of dance-pop and hi-NRG music. Her iconic 1983 hit "Let the Music Play" defined the "Shannon Sound." Other notable songs include "Give Me Tonight" and "Do You Wanna Get Away." She continues to perform and record, with her influential sound enduring in dance and electronic music.
