LineUp

Gustav Mahler, born in Bohemia, was an Austro-Bohemian Romantic composer and conductor. He crafted expansive, deeply expressive symphonies and song cycles, bridging 19th-century Romanticism with 20th-century modernism. Known for innovative orchestration and emotional depth, his celebrated works include Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" and Symphony No. 8 "Symphony of a Thousand".
Founded in 1959, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra serves audiences across Wisconsin with classical, pops, live-to-film, and operatic/theatrical programming. It commissions new works, has a 50+ year recording legacy, and has been based at Bradley Symphony Center since 2021.
Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2, "Resurrection," is a monumental post-Romantic work composed between 1888-1894. Known for its massive orchestra, soloists, and chorus, it explores themes of life, death, and redemption with immense emotional power. It features the "Urlicht" movement and a choral finale inspired by Klopstock's hymn. Hailed as a musical monument, it ranks among history's greatest symphonies.
