Master P (born Percy Miller) is a New Orleans rapper and No Limit Records CEO who built a late-’90s hip-hop empire. His 1997 Ghetto D single “Make ’Em Say Uhh!” went platinum. He also made films like I’m Bout It and I Got the Hook Up.
New Orleans producer/rapper Mannie Fresh helped build Cash Money; his quirky, bright beats moved 23M+ units. Started with New York Incorporated (1984), teamed with Gregory D for 1992’s The Real Deal, formed Big Tymers with Baby in 1998, and went solo with 2004’s The Mind of Mannie Fresh.
New Orleans rapper Juvenile (born Terius Gray) rose with Cash Money and the Hot Boys alongside Lil Wayne. A bounce pioneer, he broke through with platinum 400 Degreez (Ha, Back That Azz Up) and hit #1 with 2004’s Slow Motion.
New Orleans rapper Mia X was the first female MC on Master P’s No Limit label. She first rapped in Queens with old-school group New York Incorporated, then returned South to join No Limit Records. Albums include Good Girl Gone Bad (1995) and Top 20 hit Unlady Like.
New Orleans rapper Fiend (born Richard Jones, raised in the 17th Ward) broke out on Big Boy Records with "Baddest Muthafucka Alive" and 1995's Won't Be Denied. He later joined No Limit, featured on Master P's "Make Em Say Ugh," and went platinum with 1998's There's One in Every Family.
Atlanta party rap duo Ying Yang Twins broke through with “Whistle While You Twurk.” After 2000 debut Thug Walkin’, their Lil Jon team-up fueled nationwide success with “Salt Shaker.” TVT albums Me & My Brother and USA spawned hits like “Wait (The Whisper Song)”; also appeared on Britney Spears’ In the Zone.
New Orleans rapper Silkk the Shocker, born Vyshonn King Miller, rose with No Limit Records, co-founded by his brother Master P. Known for his gangsta rap style and unique flow, he earned platinum albums "Charge It 2 da Game" and "Made Man." Popular tracks include "It Ain't My Fault" and "Somebody Like Me," featuring collaborations with Mya and Mystikal. He has sold over 7 million records.
Mr. Serv-On signed to Master P’s No Limit Records after attending high school with him. His 1997 album Life Insurance, produced by Beats by the Pound, hit No. 23. Later releases include War Is Me, Pt. 1 (2000) and No More Questions (2003) on D3 Entertainment.
Cash Money Records co-founder/CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams is a key Dirty South rapper. Formerly Baby in Big Tymers (with Mannie Fresh). Solo albums include Birdman (2002) and Top Ten Fast Money (2005); Like Father, Like Son with Lil Wayne went gold.
New Orleans' own Mac, born McKinley Phipps Jr., is a critically acclaimed hip-hop artist from No Limit Records. Known for his lyrical complexity, he gained fame with albums like "Shell Shocked," which hit Billboard's Top 200, and as part of the 504 Boyz. His work includes popular songs such as "I Can Tell" and "Wobble Wobble."
New Orleans rapper and early Cash Money Records artist, B.G. (born Christopher Dorsey) broke through with the 1999 hit “Bling Bling” from platinum album Chopper City in the Ghetto. He later founded Chopper City Records and released Livin' Legend (2003).
An American rapper and singer from New Orleans, Louisiana, best known for his 2002 viral hit single and debut album of the same name, "Choppa Style," which popularized New Orleans bounce music on a national level.
