After leaving Norwegian black metal band Emperor, Mortiis started a solo project, releasing albums between 1993-1999 on Cold Meat Industry and Earache. Reinvented as a band, they released "The Smell of Rain" in 2001 and "The Grudge" in 2004. Known for remix collaborations with Lustmord, In The Nursery, Funker Vogt, and others. "Perfectly Defect" (2010) was a free download, while "The Great Deceiver" came out in 2016. "The Great Corrupter" (2017) featured reworks by Godflesh and more. Mortiis has toured with Danzig, Behemoth, and others.
