Born in Aberdeen, WA, the Melvins are pioneers of the sludge metal genre, influencing grunge icons like Soundgarden and Nirvana's Kurt Cobain. Their experimental sound blends punk and metal, with Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover leading since 1986. Notable works include "Bullhead" and 2017's "A Walk with Love and Death." Collaborations feature Mike Patton and Mike Kunka. Despite major labels and diverse styles, they remain cult favorites known for their heavy riffs and creative experiments.

Redd Kross

LA-bred Redd Kross: Jeff & Steven McDonald fuse punk/metal/bubblegum pop; songs “Linda Blair,” “Charlie” + “(It’s A) Sunshine Day”; worked w/ Bonaduce, Pat Smear, Buzz Osbourne.
