Nappy Roots, formed in 1995 at Western Kentucky University, gained fame with their unique Southern bounce. Known for hits like "Watermelon, Chicken and Gritz," they collaborated with Organized Noize and won accolades in the country rap genre.
Comedic rapper Afroman, born Joseph Foreman in East Palmdale, LA, soared with "Because I Got High." Known for wit & funk, his work spans self-released tapes to albums like Frobama & Crazy Rap. Grammy-nominated, Afroman began with DIY tapes in school, moved to Hattiesburg, and became a self-reliant artist post-Universal. Collaborated with various artists.
