Joshua Redman, born in Berkeley, California, is an acclaimed tenor saxophonist known for blending post-bop jazz with advanced harmonies and playful exploration. The son of saxophonist Dewey Redman, he gained fame after winning the 1991 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Saxophone Competition.
