Nena and Alphaville

NENA, born Gabriele Susanne Kerner in Hagen, Germany, became iconic in the German new wave scene with her band and global hit "99 Luftballons." Transitioning from English to German, NENA sold 40,000 copies of "Nur geträumt" in a single day. Her career spans over 30 years, with 25 million records sold and hits like "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime" with Kim Wilde. She's also known for her roles in children's films, co-founding a school, and coaching on The Voice Germany. Awards and continued success attest to her lasting influence in music.

German synth-pop group Alphaville, formed in Berlin by Marian Gold and Bernhard Lloyd, achieved success with hits "Big in Japan" and "Forever Young." Known for their evolving sound and collaborations with musicians and filmmakers, they won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Subject. They've toured globally, released multiple albums, and worked with the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg on a symphonic hits album.
