Next, hailing from Minneapolis, became late-'90s R&B icons with hits like "Too Close" and "Wifey." Known for suggestive lyrics and gospel-influenced harmonies, they achieved multi-platinum success with "Rated Next" under Arista. The group, mentored by Reverand James Grear, and Sounds of Blackness' Ann Nesby, worked with producers like KayGee and Darren Lighty. They released three albums before splitting in 2003. They reunited in 2018 with original members RL, T-Low, and Tweet.
Silk, an R&B group, known from "U Will Know," collaborated with Keith Sweat & appeared in multiple soundtracks like "Booty Call." Member Jenkins, shifted to solo in 2007 & starred in Tyler Perry's play.
Hi-Five, born in Waco, TX, is known for their smooth R&B style. They debuted on Jive in 1990 with hits like “I Like the Way (The Kissing Game),” reaching #1 on pop and R&B charts. Original members Marcus Sanders and Shannon Gill still enjoy success, with Treston Irby releasing music under Bronx Most Wanted. Faruq Evans and Billy Covington round out the group.
Born in Mississippi but raised in Atlanta, Bobby V is a smooth R&B artist known for hits like "Slow Down." Originally part of the group Mista, he later joined Ludacris' DTP crew. His solo albums have topped the R&B charts, featuring collaborations with Tim & Bob, Carlos McKinney, and Raphael Saadiq. His music blends contemporary and sultry sounds, earning spots on both Billboard and BET.
R&B singer Pleasure P, born in Miami, rose to fame with Pretty Ricky, known for hits like "Grind with Me." His solo career launched with "Did You Wrong," and he starred on VH1's Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Reunited with Pretty Ricky in 2014; his work includes collaborations with DJ Clue and Amara La Negra.
