Linear, a pop group from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, was formed in 1989 by creator and lead singer Charlie Pennachio and producer Tolga Katas. They are best known for their worldwide hit "Sending All My Love," released on Futura International and Atlantic Records.
Too $hort, born Todd Shaw in L.A., is a pioneering West Coast rapper known for explicit lyrics and sparse instrumentals. He released his breakthrough album, "Born to Mack," in 1988, earning gold certification. Collaborating with legends like 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z, Too $hort's hits include "The Ghetto" and "Blow the Whistle." He's achieved multiple platinum albums and continues influencing hip-hop with projects like his 2020 collaboration with E-40.
Stevie B, born in South Florida, is a seminal figure in freestyle and dance-pop, known for hits like "Because I Love You" and "Spring Love," earning Grammy nods.
Freestyle icon Trinere, from Miami, teamed with Pretty Tony, excelled in post-disco club music. Hits like "I'll Be All You Ever Need" topped Billboard's club chart. Known for albums like Trinere (1986), collaborated with Brandon Christopher.
NY-based dance-pop group The Cover Girls, formed by Andy Tripoli & Sal Abbatiello in 1986, featured hits like "Show Me" & "Wishing on a Star." Known for constant lineup changes, they peaked with several Top 40 tracks.
Digital Underground, formed in Oakland by Shock-G and Chopmaster J, is known for their P-Funk-inspired style. Their debut album, *Sex Packets*, featured the hit "The Humpty Dance" and went platinum. South Florida native Connie achieved fame with singles like "Funky Little Beat" after collaborating with Henry Stone. Known for her "FOREVER FUNKY" style, she released albums like "CONNIE" and "NO TEARS" and continues to inspire with new music and tours.
