An acclaimed Grammy-nominated classical pianist from South Korea who rose to international prominence after winning the silver medal at the 2005 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition as its youngest contestant.
Richard Wagner, born in Leipzig, Germany, was a revolutionary Romantic composer. He is renowned for his music dramas, including "The Ring of the Nibelung" and "Tristan und Isolde," which feature his innovative use of leitmotifs and Gesamtkunstwerk ("total work of art"). His complex harmonies and dramatic orchestration profoundly influenced Western classical music.
Hungarian Romantic composer Franz Liszt, born in Doborján, redefined piano virtuosity and performance. He pioneered the solo recital and invented the symphonic poem, profoundly influencing music. His iconic works include "Hungarian Rhapsodies," "Liebesträume No. 3," and the "Piano Sonata in B minor," showcasing his dramatic, expressive style. Liszt's innovations shaped the Romantic era.
Asher Fisch, an Israeli conductor and pianist, is celebrated for his command of German and Italian Romantic and post-Romantic repertoire, particularly Wagner. He has led major opera houses and orchestras worldwide, serving as Principal Conductor of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of Tiroler Festspiele Erl. His discography includes award-winning Wagner Ring Cycle recordings and Brahms symphonies. He began his career as Daniel Barenboim's assistant.
