John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne was an English singer, songwriter, and media personality who rose to prominence in the 1970s as the lead vocalist of the pioneering heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Dubbed the "Prince of Darkness," he later embarked on a highly successful multi-platinum solo career, beginning with his 1980 album Blizzard of Ozz. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame both as a member of Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, he also gained widespread fame in the early 2000s starring in the MTV reality show The Osbournes.
