Atlanta party rap duo Ying Yang Twins broke through with “Whistle While You Twurk.” After 2000 debut Thug Walkin’, their Lil Jon team-up fueled nationwide success with “Salt Shaker.” TVT albums Me & My Brother and USA spawned hits like “Wait (The Whisper Song)”; also appeared on Britney Spears’ In the Zone.
Born Bobby Wilson in Mississippi and raised in Atlanta, smooth contemporary R&B singer Bobby V (formerly Bobby Valentino) broke out with Mista’s “Blackberry Molasses.” Signed to Ludacris’ DTP; debut topped Billboard R&B and he later hit the Top Ten with Fly on the Wall.
Day26 is an R&B vocal group formed on season 4 of MTV’s Making the Band. Winners of the show, they signed to Bad Boy Records under Sean “Puffy” Combs, releasing “Got Me Going” (prod. Mario Winans) and 2008’s Day26.
Florida-born contemporary R&B singer Sammie broke out in 1999 with Dallas Austin-produced hit "I Like It" (Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop #8). His album From the Bottom to the Top followed, later returning with Indigo (2015) and Coming of Age (2017).

McComb, MS-born R&B singer/actor Ray J (Brandy’s brother): smooth, youthful R&B. Hit “Sexy Can I” (2x platinum); All I Feel topped indie/R&B. Worked with Timbaland, Neptunes, R. Kelly.
Atlanta’s Trillville, pioneers of crunk since 1997, rose with hits like “Neva Eva.” Led by Don P, they worked with Lil Jon and produced for Kendrick Lamar, Gucci Mane, and more.
Atlanta’s Crime Mob popularized rowdy crunk with hits like "Knuck If You Buck" and "Rock Yo Hips." Their debut hit #5 on Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts.
