Rob Base, born Robert Ginyard in Harlem, is best known for the hip-hop classic "It Takes Two" with DJ E-Z Rock. The duo's album went platinum and Spin named it Single of the Year. After releasing a solo album, Base reunited with E-Z Rock for Break of Dawn in 1994. E-Z Rock passed away in 2014 and was honored at the Hip Hop Hall of Fame.

Collaborating with Johnny J, Candyman released "Ain't No Shame in My Game" in 1990 and worked with producers like DJ Quik and Prince Paul. He appeared in Nas' "Where Are They Now" remix and partnered with J Bigga in 2011.
