Camille Saint-Saëns was a French composer, organist, conductor, and pianist of the Romantic era. A child prodigy who made his concert debut at age ten, he is widely recognized for his technical mastery and iconic works such as Danse macabre, the opera Samson and Delilah, the Organ Symphony, and The Carnival of the Animals.
English-born pianist Stephen Hough is known for his vast recording catalog of over 80 items, championing rare composers, and performing his own works. He won the Naumburg International Piano Competition in 1983 and became the first classical pianist to receive a MacArthur genius grant in 2001. He is also a writer, poet, and exhibited visual artist.
Founded in 1922 by George Eastman, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra has performed at Carnegie Hall, recorded for labels like Vox and Harmonia Mundi, and won a Grammy Award for the 2019 release American Rapture. Led by music directors including Eugene Goossens, José Iturbi, Erich Leinsdorf, David Zinman, and Christopher Seaman, the orchestra serves over 350,000 patrons annually.
