Sammy Kershaw, born in Kaplan, Louisiana, is a 1990s country singer known for modernizing honky tonk with a soft rock touch. Hits include "Cadillac Style" and "She Don't Know She's Beautiful." Kershaw, related to Cajun fiddler Doug Kershaw, overcame personal struggles to secure a record deal with Mercury in 1990. His platinum albums spawned numerous Top Ten hits. Collaborated with George Jones and Lorrie Morgan. He explored politics in Louisiana and returned to music with "Swamp Poppin'" in 2017, celebrating his R&B roots.
