LineUp

San Francisco Symphony’s Grammy Award-winning in-house label, SFS Media, founded in 2001, produces and distributes acclaimed orchestral, choral, opera, and contemporary recordings featuring conductors Michael Tilson Thomas and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Jean Sibelius was a Finnish composer of the late Romantic and early modern periods, widely regarded as his country's greatest composer. He is known for his significant contributions to symphonic and orchestral music, including his set of seven symphonies, the violin concerto, and symphonic tone poems such as Finlandia. His music drew heavily on Finnish myths and legends, particularly the epic poem Kalevala, and played an important role in the formation of the Finnish national identity.
Born in Taiwan and raised in Australia, violinist Ray Chen is known for bright playing. Winner of the 2008 Yehudi Menuhin and 2009 Queen Elisabeth competitions, he records for Sony Classical and Decca, and plays the 1715 Joachim Stradivarius.
