Setting is an American instrumental experimental rock trio based out of Durham, North Carolina. Formed in 2021 by multi-instrumentalists Nathan Bowles, Jaime Fennelly, and Joe Westerlund, the band creates sprawling, improvisational music that blends elements of rustic folk, electronic, avant-garde, and ambient rock. They released their debut studio album, Shone a Rainbow Light On, in 2023 through Paradise of Bachelors, followed by several live recordings and an eponymous studio album via Thrill Jockey in 2026.
