Severed Heads

Severed Heads, from Sydney, pioneered Australia's alternative music scene with their eclectic industrial, synth pop, and electronic sound. Formed in 1979, Tom Ellard led constant evolution, using unique formats for distribution. Notable works include "Dead Eyes Opened" and "Greater Reward," and they collaborated with video artist Stephen Jones for dynamic live shows. Signed with Nettwerk and Volition Records, they explored digital sampling and faced music industry challenges. Their soundtrack for "The Illustrated Family Doctor" won Best Film Soundtrack from the Australian Recording Industry Association. They retired in 2008, but their legacy endures.
