Manchester, England-born Shaun Ryder led Happy Mondays, mixing psychedelia, funk and house with sleazy, rap-influenced vocals. Their Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches hit No. 1 in the U.K. He later formed Black Grape; debut It's Great When You're Straight...Yeah also topped the U.K. charts.
