Sleep

Sleep is an American stoner doom metal band formed in San Jose, California, in 1990. Renowned as pioneers of the stoner metal genre, the group is celebrated for its ultra-heavy, slow, riff-driven sound heavily influenced by Black Sabbath and centered on themes of cannabis culture. Emerging from the sludge punk outfit Asbestosdeath, their discography includes classic releases like Sleep's Holy Mountain (1992) and the hour-long magnum opus Dopesmoker, both widely regarded as foundational masterpieces of the genre.
