Slow Joy is the solo project of Dallas-based Chicano artist Esteban Flores, originally from New Mexico. He blends grunge, alternative rock, emo, and shoegaze, crafting "Southwest emo" with deeply personal lyrics. Known for processing grief through his art, his debut album, "A Joy So Slow at Times I Don't Think It's Coming," released in 2025, features popular songs like "Gruesome" and "Pulling Teeth." He earned a "Best New Band" nod from the Dallas Observer.
