Social Distortion, formed in 1978 by Mike Ness in L.A., blends punk, blues, and rockabilly. Known for hits like "Ball and Chain," they faced lineup changes and Ness's addiction but achieved fame with albums like "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell." Collaborations include covers of Johnny Cash and work with drummer Chuck Biscuits. After key member Dennis Danell's death, Jonny Wickersham joined. Their influential style earned them a lasting place in punk rock history.
