Vulkan is a Swedish heavy progressive rock and metal band from Karlstad, formed in 2006. Known for blending a heavy, complex sound with cinematic atmospheres and emotional melodies, the group evolved from an early classic retro prog style under the moniker Morgeous Garvin before officially renaming themselves in 2011. Comprising vocalist Jimmy Bob Lindblad, drummer Johan Norbäck, keyboardist Olle Edberg, bassist Oscar Pettersson, and guitarist Christian Fredriksson, they are highly regarded for their fluid songwriting, metrically inventive rhythms, and dual English and Swedish lyrics. Their acclaimed discography includes Mask Of Air (2011), Observants (2016), and their breakthrough 2020 album Technatura, which deals with themes of human technology versus nature and was named one of the top prog albums of the year.
