LineUp

Based in Minneapolis, the Minnesota Orchestra (founded 1903 as the Minneapolis Symphony) performs about 175 concerts yearly, mostly at Orchestra Hall. Known by its current name since 1968, it has earned a Grammy Award and toured Cuba, South Africa, and Europe.
Igor Stravinsky, the Russian-born titan of 20th-century music, revolutionized classical sound with his bold rhythms and innovative harmonies. His iconic ballets "The Firebird," "Petrushka," and the riot-inducing "The Rite of Spring," created for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, remain cornerstones of modernism. He also explored neoclassicism and serialism.
Stravinsky's Firebird, a ballet and orchestral work, premiered in Paris in 1910 for the Ballets Russes. Rooted in Russian folklore, its dazzling, evocative style blends Romanticism with modernism, launching Stravinsky to international fame. The 1919 suite remains a beloved orchestral piece, celebrated for its shimmering colors and driving rhythms.
