Formed in Southern California in the mid-1990s, Armenian-American alternative metal band System of a Down is known for their socially-conscious lyrics and folk-infused thrash style. Their multi-platinum, chart-topping 2001 landmark album Toxicity featured hits like Chop Suey! and Aerials, followed by the chart-topping companion albums Mezmerize and Hypnotize.
