Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, a Russian Romantic composer from Votkinsk, is celebrated for his emotional intensity and melodic beauty. He masterfully blended Russian folk influences with Western traditions. His iconic works include the ballets Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and The Sleeping Beauty, alongside the 1812 Overture and Piano Concerto No. 1. His compositions remain beloved globally.
Eun Sun Kim, from Seoul, South Korea, is a celebrated classical conductor. Music Director of San Francisco Opera, she is hailed as a "Breakout Star" by The New York Times for her assured command and dynamic interpretations. She leads major global orchestras and opera houses, with her album "Deified" showcasing Wagner.
Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64 is a four-movement symphony composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky between May and August 1888. First performed in Saint Petersburg on November 17, 1888, with the composer conducting, the cyclical work is celebrated for its recurring "fate theme" that transforms from a brooding, funereal march into a triumphant, blazing major key procession by the finale.
